A Man of Impact, Service, and Heart

“To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.” — Thomas Campbell

Prince Bishop Adeyinka Adejube was a man whose presence radiated leadership, compassion, and purpose. He belonged to several notable social organizations in Nigeria, including the Lions Club, Rotary Club, and Country Club, where his unwavering commitment to service earned him the Most Valuable Member Award earlier this year.

In Atlanta, Georgia, Bishop continued his legacy of excellence and dedication to the Yoruba community. He was not only a National Officer of Egbe Omo Yorùbá North America (EOYNA) but also served as the General Secretary of the Atlanta Chapter, after a distinguished tenure as Vice President. Fondly called “the King of Boys,” Bishop reactivated the National Youth Movement, uniting and inspiring Yoruba youth across North America into purposeful, vibrant engagement and cultural pride.

A man of the people and a true team player, Bishop worked with everyone to get the job done. As a businessman, he used his influence and connections in Georgia to uplift fellow Nigerians in need. He was also a guidance counselor and mentor to many—offering sound advice on immigration policies, compliance, and the right path to success. Thousands can testify to his humility, warmth, and wisdom.

In Bishop, Yoruba land has lost a guide, a bridge-builder, and a shining light whose legacy of service will forever endure.

A Prince by Birth, a King by Character

Bishop was not only a leader by example but also by birth. He was a Prince, a proud son of Akoko land in Ondo State, Nigeria—a town that fondly referred to him as “the Crown Prince, next in line to the throne.” His kinsmen often prayed that he would one day become king, just like his illustrious grandfather, whose reign was marked by peace, prosperity, and wisdom.

Indeed, Bishop was his grandfather’s reflection—a carbon copy in character, generosity, and grace. His sister and other family members often said, “He took after our grandfather in every way.” The people saw in Bishop not just royal blood, but a royal heart—a man who ruled with love, service, and humility long before he ever wore a crown.

To compound the pain of his passing, Bishop’s beloved mother had died only a few months earlier. True to his thoughtful nature, Bishop postponed her final burial to ensure it would be a grand and unifying family occasion. Sadly, that celebration was scheduled for just two days after his own passing. He had intended to bring the family together once more, just as he had done during the historic burial of his father—an event still remembered with admiration throughout Akoko land for its organization, dignity, and communal spirit.

A Man Who Made Things Happen

“Yorùbá ní, òwìn emu àgbà ni òbí tí ń gbó” — the Yoruba say, “It is the ripe palm tree that yields the sweetest sap.”

An elder statesman once remarked that he prayed Bishop would live long, for he had just witnessed what true humanity meant. On that occasion, Bishop singlehandedly resolved a crisis that a whole family could not.

A bereaved mother had lost her daughter here in the United States and was deeply traumatized. Her family wanted her to return home, but her travel documents were missing. When Bishop heard about her plight, he personally visited the Nigerian Ambassador’s office, advocated on her behalf, and ensured that her papers were reissued. He even inspired the embassy staff to reach out, comfort her, and reassure her that the document was as valid as her passport. Indeed, it happened—because Bishop cared enough to act.

Such stories are countless. Nigerians far and wide have traveled thousands of miles to seek Bishop’s guidance. His wisdom and insight often became the truth and the way. Bishop lived life his own way—boldly, selflessly, and effectively—and the results of his efforts changed lives and strengthened communities.

We All Feel the Loss

We all feel Bishop’s passing deeply. Beyond his family, the pain echoes across our Egbe family.
Among the many mourning hearts, three stand out for the closeness they shared with him.

Dr. Ayo Famuyide, our National President, was Bishop’s ally and comrade in the struggle for youth emancipation and reintegration into the mainstream of Egbe. The two worked tirelessly to empower young Yoruba men and women, giving them a voice and purpose. Dr. Famuyide, always cheerful and composed, could not hide his pain the day he broke the news of Bishop’s death. “Alas,” he said, “Bishop left without farewell.” Indeed, this is a difficult time. Aare Famuyide, as the National President and chief mourner, may God strengthen and comfort you—Ọlọ́run ló n ṣàkóso.

After the passing of his biological father, Bishop found another paternal bond. He appointed our digital president, Dr. Duro Odimayo Akindutire, former National President of EOYNA, as his adopted father, one who would never disown him. Aare Àgbà Ọmọ, ó ní kú má yìn o. We can only imagine your pain—ẹ kú àrà f’ẹ̀ra kú.

In his final days, Bishop also drew close to our own “Rock of Ages,” Yeye Popoola. He often sought her prayers, and during her visit to his sickbed, he called her “Mother.” Yeye Popoola, Bishop was your adopted son; we feel your pain, and we pray that Jehovah will comfort and soothe your heart.

A Heart Full of Love

There is a saying: “There is beauty all around when there is love at home.”

To his beloved wife, Ebony, we say thank you—for sharing Bishop with the world. Thank you for your strength, patience, and grace that allowed him to serve humanity to his last breath. Your support made his mission possible, and his legacy now continues through the love you both built and shared.

Farewell to a Rare Gem

Prince Bishop Adeyinka Adejube—leader, counselor, friend, and servant of the people—lived a life of purpose and compassion. His impact crossed borders, generations, and hearts.
